Default very dissapointed of paragons during event!

i thought spear - wielders were short ranged melee ??? like diablo 2, tat amazon is soo cool, theres a skill tat uses lightning and stab/jab enemies faster and like dyanstywarriors, theres this guy uses spear and he goes slack and hash the enemy, but in this game the paragon AHEM.... THROW THE SPEAR????????????? the spear animation even sucks!!! when da paragon throws it, it spawns back to its hand i mean wth??????

im still getting nightfall but this is a really BIG letdown for me, da assassin was fun in factions and thought paragons will be funner to play in nightfall! yes whoever wants me argue about paragons, i mean paragons doesnt suck-suck, their skills and game style are good but i expected the paragon to have at least Pike, Bardiche, etc weapons that go for short ranged melee. and i dont wanna play dervishes. I WANT PARAGON TO BE REBORN AND REMADE BY ANET!!!!

1. You thought wrong. A spear is a weapon which is thrown in most cases. It is sometimes used for close combat but it is more commonly thrown.
2. Short range polearms are not spears. The spear is the ancestor of the polearm, not the category a polearm is in.
3. There is no reason for a spear-wielder to have a Pike when they are designed to be long-range fighters.
4. It will never be remade. It has already been made correctly.

I felt right at home with my Paragon during the PVE. Reminded me quite fondly of my of my dual ethereal Titan's Revenge wielding Javazon

You fail to see what a Spear is.

A Spear is a light, midlength shaft and a Point at the tip. Javalins and Pilums are prime examples you would be able to look up. Spears were used all over that part of the world by Hunters. There are Heavy Spears that would be used for Thrusting at the enemy to try to impale them (imagine hunters taking down a large animal, some would throw spears into the animal, and when it was weakened larger guys would come in and Impale the animal with larger spears to finish it off), but these aren't what you are talking about, and they would be poor weapons for real combat.

What you want are Polearms (melee ranged weapons with long shafts and bladed ends) like a Pike or Halberd.

But saddly, Paragons were advertised as SPEARMEN, not weilders of Polearms. So I dont get where you are coming from.

Polearms don't really make good individual combat weapons in any case. They were used either to reach mounted calvary or in a phalanx of some sort to create an impenetrable wall of death.

Jesus christ stop murdering the English language!

Didn't you even play a Paragon during the PvP event??? Or take no notice at all to the Packhunters rampaging around. Or even talk to someone who did?

I don't get it, why are you getting Nightfall if you think Paragons suck purely because you've played too much Diablo 2 and don't wanna play a Dervish?

Maybe for the new content? I don't know, but that's just a hunch.

Wow, I can't believe I actually learned something from reading this. Not the stuff I quoted. I had never heard of a Bardiche before.

But guyses, da paragons bees nots lots of spearsa!

Anyway, on the actual proposed topic of discussion, I personally am not disappointed at all with the paragon. Of what I've played of the paragon, they seem to be a very fun support character, and could be a good secondary for an orders necro. Albeit, that's one possibility, but what I'm getting at is that, even though they don't deal as much damage as a 'sin or warrior, they look to be a very promising class, especially when taking into account the chants and whatnot.

It doesn't just magically appear back in his hand, he pulls it from his back. I think he should have a quiver though, as should the rangers.

As several have pointed out, you don't know what a spear is.

The Paragon is a commander, he can't be right up against the enemy, he needs to be back a bit, see all the action, buff his troops, & support with the spear.

I liked paragon, made me wanna watch the movie Troy...
although they didn't do as much damage as I would have liked, it does have benefits of being behind the front lines but in front of the casters, such as any backup emergency healing and continued use of chants/shouts.

1- This is not Diablo, FF, WoW, Runescape, or any other RPG that yu have played; this is GUILD WARS!!

2- Um, I am pretty sure that Anet did not make Paragons just for you, chicks, they made it for party buffs and added Spear attacks just for a little taste.

3- Please speak intellegently, not in all lower case and ''shortcut typing''.

4- This is Guild Wars...

5- This is not Diablo

Is this clear?

I'm not sure what you were expecting. We all knew they were gonna have spears. Spears are MADE to be thrown.

I agree with Darksun, in real life I would never use a spear for melee unless it was for like what's it called where you run at each other on top of horses
